  • Open Studio is a micro business run by highly skilled and experienced artist Carol Hudson. Carol has taught a lot at universities and art schools and now prefers a more relaxed and specialised way of teaching.

Her classes are personalised and she can give more assistance to each student because classes are kept so small. Happily it doesn’t cost more — unless you’d like to book a one-on-one class to learn a specific technique or projectl.

  • Open Audio classes are generally 4 — 6 people.

Team Building classes can be held at your office or another location. These classes can be up to 40 people. For over 15 people we will provide a ceramics assistant.

  • Classes are designed to be relaxed, social and with space and assistance for you to take your individual creative direction.

At the beginning of each class I ask students about their ideas and what they’d like to gain from the class and create a project for our agreed direction.

We usually begin with making simple forms from which you can create functional objects or sculptural shapes. You’ll be encouraged to be creative and experimental.

  • At the beginning of each class I ask students about their ideas and what they’d like to gain from the class.

I modify the class to suit our agreed direction. Mostly, however we agree to have a foundational class in observational drawing, where I take you through how to observe, measure and shade a simple object realistically.

I provide paper and other materials. You can take your drawings with you.

Your Teacher — Carol Hudson

Over my teaching career I've learned to create experiences that are relaxed, fun, social and rich in possibilities. I want you to be able switch everything off from your outside life and be your creative self. I want you to make or draw something you didn't think was possible, and be very excited about it.

Teaching ceramics and drawing is a joy for me. I make classes small — usually no more than 6 (unless team-building) — so I can give you lots of individual attention and assistance.

You'll benefit from my years as an artist and designer as well as years teaching at Universities and Art Schools in Sydney and overseas.

Join me for a class — I promise you'll love it.
